The information below, provides you with details of the assignments for both level 2 & level 3 courses. Please download a copy of the relevant assessment plan to see the full requirements. Below are the written assignments that you need to complete.

Please use the Tips pages to help you complete the assignments and download a copy of the Marking Criteria by clicking here. The marking criteria is used by the tutors, so if you follow the provided information, assignments will most probably not have to be returned for further work!

Unit 1

Level 2 

1.2 Define and explain abdominal breathing in relationship to Shibashi level one movements.

This will be assessed by a) the crossword below and b) Written explanation for you portfolio.

1.3 Demonstrate and explain correct fundamental body alignment.

This will be assessed a) at your last base session and b) Written explanation for your portfolio.

 

Level 3

1.4 Perform wuji, Tai Chi stance, and examine the concept of rooting via full and empty.

This will be assessed a) at your last base session and b) Written questions and answers for your portfolio (Rooting assignment)
NOTE. 1.4 - please remember that 'normal' Tai Chi practice for establishing rooting will not be applicable here as learners may be seated.

Unit 2  

 Level 2

2.2 Illustrate and select ways of teaching movements for inclusion of disability and reduced mobility.

This will be assessed by an essay of 500 words and a Group Discussion. You will be informed of the date of this online discussion.

Level 3

2.2 Analyse and evaluate ways of teaching movements for inclusion of disability and reduced mobility.

This will be assessed through a Group Discussion and a written account. You will be informed of the date of this discussion.

 

Unit 4

It is strongly recommended that you carry out Unit/Assignment 5 before attempting Unit 4 if you have little or no TCM knowledge. Without this knowledge, the Study guide and handouts will make little sense! 

 

Level 2 

4.1 Discuss the background and history of the movements.
4.2. Discuss the theoretical purpose of Shibashi movements
.

These will be assessed by one 500 word essay. Please remember to combine 4.1 and 4.2 into one essay.
 

Level 3

4.1 Analyse the background and history of the movements.
4.2. Discuss the theoretical purpose of Shibashi movements

These will be assessed by one 1000 word essay . Please remember to combine 4.1 and 4.2 into one essay.

Unit 5  

Level 2

5.1 Explain the concept and four principles of Yin & Yang.

This will be assessed by the Yin Yang assignment. 
 

Level 3

5.1 Explore and evaluate the concept of the four principles of Yin & Yang.

This will be assessed by the Yin Yang assignment.
